Loans to Turkish Companies from Foreignors
We have a client who want to make a secured loan to someone in Turkey.
The Turkish person or company owns real estate (land) in Cyprus (on the Greek side). Can a loan be made by a foreignor? Can the lender get a mortgage on the land as security? Can the borrower give other collateral (such as a lien on machinery, equipment and fixtures)? Thank you for your help. |

Answers:
1- Yes 2- Don't know. Greek Side of Cyprus is not subject to Turkish Laws so you have to learn their laws about this question. As far as Turkish system concerned answer is yes. 3- Yes and no. This procedure is not practical so I wouldnt recommend. |
