Please can you offer me some advice. A good friend of mine is British, she is in a relationship with a Turkish man, they are not married. She is due to give birth soon to their child. She returned back to the UK for the birth, her boyfriend is visiting in the UK from Turkey on a tourist visa and plans to return back to Turkey after the birth. She plans to remain in the UK for a short time. Howevere, due to many reasons, including abuse on his part she wishes to end the relationship. We need advice regarding his rights if she takes the baby into turkey after they are no longer together. Could he prevent the child from leaving. They have discussed have a prewritten letter that would state the baby and mother can travel freely but this was prior to considering an end to the relationship. Would this still work or could he "override" the letter. She wants him to still be involved in the child's life but needs to know legally where she stands.
