Dear Sir,
My grandfather was a Turkish citizen and came to Egypt in 1930s
My question is can my father apply for Turkish citizenship and obtain it, THEN, when my father obtains it CAN I obtain it from my father?
Thanks a lot in advance.
Kerim.
Dear Kerim,
First of all I advice you to read 6 th and 7 th Articles of Turkish Citizenship Law.(You can look here:http://oruchukuk.net/turkishcitizenshipact.htm)
Then your father must prove that his father was a Turkish citizen. He (your grandfather) must be registered as a Turkish citizen in the Civil Registry Office of the district in Turkey where he left in 1930s.
If you succeed to prove that, your father may apply to the Turkish Ministry of Interior Affairs for Turkish citizenship. If your father lives outside of Turkey, for example in Egypt, he may apply to Turkish Consulate for the same purpose.
Then, when your father acquired Turkish citizenship, you can apply in the same way.
I hope it helps.
