Varsayılan re child support payment

Up until what age is a father of a Turkish child, responsible for paying for that child's education? No age is specified on the Turkish divorce settlement agreement. It just states that the father is responsible for education fees for that child. The father is also paying the mother, monthly 'maintenace' monies for that child. 'Allimony' was waivered by the mother but a monthly maintenance fee was agreed along with the father paying 'education fees'. How long must both payments be continued? When can it stop? Many thanks.

Dear Konuk,

According to the 328 th article of the Turkish Civil Code; “Obligations of caring of mother and father continue until the child becomes major. If education of child continues despite he or she has become major, mother and father are obliged to care child to the extent that can be expected from them according to the situations and conditions, until his or her education ends.”
When the child completed his or her age of eighteen, the mother can not demand any alimony or education fee from the father in the name of the child officially.
The child must file a new suit and provide a new decree himself/herself when he or she becomes major if he/she requires support from his/her parents until he/she completes his/her education. That support ends when education has been completed.
According to the 364 th article of Turkish Civil Code; "Every person is obliged to support his or her ascendants and descendants and brothers and sisters who will fall into poverty in case he or she has not given help." So he or she may also demand alimony at any time from her parents if he or she will fall into poverty without their support. This alimony ends when the child no needed alimony any more.

I hope I have been helpfull.
